Some other Napoleonic?

 Some years ago I began finding myself spending increasingly more time looking at the Eureka AB webpage, in particular the 18mm Napoleonics. I am not going to lie, I was intimidated!!! The figures looked amazing and the painted examples online even better. How could I paint these guys? I am happy to report that about a year ago I took the plundge and began collecting the 18mm Revolutionary French and Austrians. 

I have always been interested in the French Revolutionary period and the early Napoleonic period however, the push to start collecting figures really came from a podcast called The Age of Napoleon. Type this in to wherever you get podcasts if you have any interest in the period at all or even just history this will not disapoint. These books also helped me understand the period and want to give it a go:




Both books are very interesting and easily available on Amazon. So I currently have two Napoleonic projects going; 10mm 1809 and 18mm French Revolutionary and early Napoleonic period. Obviously, like all miniature painters/gamers I have tons of failed Napoleonic projects in boxes including 3mm and 6mm. Anyway I am a bit embarassed to show these because of my poor painting but here is my go at some 18mm Eureka Reveloutionary Austrians and French:

    Yes, but I love the look!!! I just ordered a ton of 18mm 1809 Prussians!!!

Russians?

Yes Russians from 1812 onward and in 6mm to boot!!! So how is this supposed to help me stay on focus and complete the stuff for the 1809 campaign? Well it made sense when I was painting them let me explain: I want to buy more figures, because I always see something cool and want to buy it which I think is a common ailment in this hobby. So to stop the unpainted lead pile from increasing to a level where I need a new apartment I made a deal. I can buy new figures if I paint 50% of the unpainted stuff I have!!!  I pulled out my box of shame and thought those Russians look nice. And there we went, last week they got painted and based. These are all Baccus 6mm figures with the exception of the commanders (Czar Alexander and some Russian general), which are from the Adler Russian command pack. Some workbench stuff

 Last year I was lucky enough to be able to attend the HGMS convention, my first miniature convention, and absolutely fell in love with the Wargaming Company ESR 10mm figure line. I left with a French army box and recently decided to expand the collection by buying some French and Russian packs from Nobel Miniatures and the Wargaming Company webstore.  The Wargaming Company figures fit in nicely with Pendraken 10mm, another range I love, are fantastic figures and a joy to paint.  I am not a great painter by any stretch but here are some pictures of the convention box and my workbench progress.

I finished up a bunch of 15mm WWI Russians the other night so decided to post a few pictures. I have the Germans but have to get moving on more Russians and the Austro-Hungarians. All the figures are from Peter Pig. More to come.
