1809 Army so far

Once in a while I like to take a look at my progress on a project by laying the army out and taking some pictures. Last night was one of those times and I got the Austrians out. This is the Wargame Company ESR part of the army, the hope is to eventually merge these with the Pendraken Austrians to have a a larger force. 

Thinking about it I should have started with an order of battle and built from there but I did not. I just bought a bunch of the figures. One of my problems, other than always being sucked in by nice looking figures, is even though I am using ESR figures I am not sure I want to play those rules. In 10mm based on 30mm bases I do not even know if I should be aiming at brigade sized fights or entire battles? I figure as the collection grows I can start laying them out and getting a better feel on how much room the battalions take up. Hope you enjoy the force to this point. A bunch more are base coated on the desk and I hope to update progress soon.

Russians?

Yes Russians from 1812 onward and in 6mm to boot!!! So how is this supposed to help me stay on focus and complete the stuff for the 1809 campaign? Well it made sense when I was painting them let me explain: I want to buy more figures, because I always see something cool and want to buy it which I think is a common ailment in this hobby. So to stop the unpainted lead pile from increasing to a level where I need a new apartment I made a deal. I can buy new figures if I paint 50% of the unpainted stuff I have!!!  I pulled out my box of shame and thought those Russians look nice. And there we went, last week they got painted and based. These are all Baccus 6mm figures with the exception of the commanders (Czar Alexander and some Russian general), which are from the Adler Russian command pack. Some workbench stuff

 Last year I was lucky enough to be able to attend the HGMS convention, my first miniature convention, and absolutely fell in love with the Wargaming Company ESR 10mm figure line. I left with a French army box and recently decided to expand the collection by buying some French and Russian packs from Nobel Miniatures and the Wargaming Company webstore.  The Wargaming Company figures fit in nicely with Pendraken 10mm, another range I love, are fantastic figures and a joy to paint.  I am not a great painter by any stretch but here are some pictures of the convention box and my workbench progress.

I finished up a bunch of 15mm WWI Russians the other night so decided to post a few pictures. I have the Germans but have to get moving on more Russians and the Austro-Hungarians. All the figures are from Peter Pig. More to come.
