Austrian Reinforcements

Image
I am chugging along on the 10mm Wargame Company Austrians, Russians and French. I will most likely focus on the 1809 Campaign but can't resist the pull of 1812 Russia as well. These are very nice figures and paint up very fast. The one issue I have had is that they are a bit light and if I am not careful they do snap off of the sprue and break when I cut them off to paint. The solution is to take my time!!! I bought most of these figures from Nobel Night Games and the service is excellent. Usually they are in my hand less than a week after I order them.  A note; the Austrian Hussars are from Pendraken 1809 line. More chunky than the Wargaming Company figures but also fantastic. The two lines mix well in my opinion and I even use the French Pendraken eagles instead of the Wargaming Company eagles (they are a bit to short in my opinion), mixed in with my French.

Great news Good Ground Miniatures back!!!

I discovered last week that Good Ground Miniatures are back producing and selling miniatures. The Cracker and Plank Road American Civil War lines were my favorite ACW figures. I loved the company and the owner Bill seemed like a great guy unfortunately he passed away and the company no longer took orders. Last week while looking at my 10mm ACW forces from Good Ground I decided to check the webpage. I was pleasantly surprised to see the page functioning and figures ready to order. A quick email confirmed that a friend of Bill has taken over the range and is selling figures again. This is a great company that produces fantastic miniatures and is run by really nice people. I would encourage anyone interested in American Civil War in smaller scales to take a look. Here are some of my armies.

Some more progress

I continue to slowly push my way through the Wargame Company 10mm French and Russian pile. I have instituted a rule that I will not add to this pile until I complete at least 80% of what I have. I am trying to keep myself focused but those 18mm AB Revolutionary Austrians look enticing!!!

Some workbench stuff

Last year I was lucky enough to be able to attend the HGMS convention, my first miniature convention, and absolutely fell in love with the Wargaming Company ESR 10mm figure line. I left with a French army box and recently decided to expand the collection by buying some French and Russian packs from Nobel Miniatures and the Wargaming Company webstore.  The Wargaming Company figures fit in nicely with Pendraken 10mm, another range I love, are fantastic figures and a joy to paint.  I am not a great painter by any stretch but here are some pictures of the convention box and my workbench progress.

What is all this then?

The smoke filled the air, along with the wind and snow it created a strange hot and cold sensation. He was forced to close his eyes. When they did open he realized the sounds were gone as were his friends. There he was alone and lost.  Well I am going to try and provide a diary of my miniature painting and adventures. I envision this as a place where I will update my military miniatures and what I am working on. So lets say more hopefully to come and maybe the Lost Voltiguer can find his way!!!
