Reinforcements for the King

Image
Things have statrted to get busy again with the school year about to start, those of you in education will understand what I mean, so production has fallen off. However, I was able to get a few more Prussian Regiments done. Hopefully by the fall I can have a small game  against the French.

More Prussians

Image
I have always been fascinated by the Prussian Army of 1806. Something about those sharp uniforms and the ranks of Prussian infantry fighting in 1806 like it was 1756 and being out manuvered by the modern French revolutionary infantry. Actually when I started seriously reading about the period I discovered that the Prussians often did very well and the campaign is more interesting than it looks at first. But yes just something about this army I have been building it for years in 6mm, 10mm and recently, 18mm. These are some of the regiments that will be added to the force. The figures are from the fantastic AB line and my painting does not do them justice.

I have returned.

Yes I made it to Historicon 2025, returned and have recovered. My advise for anyone attending and for myself next year do not drive three hours there and three hours back in one day!!! But what a day it was!!! The games were amazing and so were the people. I learned so much and a few people told me they had seen the blog and my video's which is really cool.  Some trends I noticed on Friday; a lot more Bolt Action than last year, few small scale games, although there was an awsome 6mm WWII desert game, a lot of 28mm Perry ACW and 15mm WW2. There was also an insane Pavia game. So there are tons of reports online and pictures but I will share some of what I saw on Friday.

Heading to Historicon!!!

Last year when I drove the three and a half hours to Historicon and the three and a half hours back it was my first experience of a Wargame/Miniature convention and it blew away my expectations. So much so that I decided to engage in the same insanity this year and I excited!!! So tomorrow morning at about 6am I will grab some coffee and be on my way for what I am sure will be an amazing day and evening of miniatures. Hopefully when I recover, likely by next week at somepoint, I will post some pictures and impressions.  For now my obsesion with 1806 Prussians continues. I just love the look of this army and have parts of it in 15/18mm, 10mm and 6mm. These are some pictures of the 6mm collection. Most of these are the lovely Turner miniature figures.

Am I back?

After a somewhat unexpected move I have finally been able to reorganize the miniature collection and get some painting done. One thing I noticed during the move is how much space this hobby takes up. Living in NYC with a family of four my room is somewhat limited. Thankfully I have a very understanding wife and large closets, something rare for NYC apartments. Looking through all the boxes also got me thinking that this blog is really needed in order to force me to stay somewhat on a project. I have bits and bobs from all kind of time periods and scales, so focus is necessary.  Well then what are my plans for the summer painting? I pulled out some 6mm WW2 during the move roughly geared towards Normany and France 1940 and 1944. I like this stuff and I see some British green in my future. These are all GHQ tanks with Adler infantry.

The Russians are Coming!!!

Image
I finished up a bunch of 15mm WWI Russians the other night so decided to post a few pictures. I have the Germans but have to get moving on more Russians and the Austro-Hungarians. All the figures are from Peter Pig. More to come.

Do we need focus

Image
This blog is kind of like my hobby, changing from day to day. I had originally thought that documenting what I was working on would keep me focused on one project however it has instead worked to show me the lack of attention I have!!!  Well so be it, I guess it is what it is. One period I always go back to is Russian Civil War and WWI on the Eastern Front. I did my masters specialization on Russian/Soviet foreign policy during the early 20's and this period always seems to facinate me. Recently I have been reading Germany Ascendant The Eastern Front 1915 by Prit Buttar which caused me to dig out my Russian Civil War and Russian early WWI army.  So the old Russians are being redone and the new packs are being painted. In the meantime here are some of my Russian Civil War stuff.
